Colleen McCullough (1937-2015) was an acclaimed Australian author best known for her epic novel The Thorn Birds, which became an international bestseller and was adapted into a highly successful television miniseries. Born in Wellington, New South Wales, McCullough initially pursued a career in neuroscience, working in both Australia and the United States. Her transition to writing brought her widespread recognition and numerous literary accolades. In addition to The Thorn Birds, McCullough authored several other novels, including the historical series Masters of Rome, which showcased her meticulous research and storytelling prowess.
