The Dalai Lama, born Tenzin Gyatso in 1935, is the 14th Dalai Lama and the spiritual leader of Tibetan Buddhism. Renowned for his teachings on compassion, mindfulness, and peace, he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1989 for his nonviolent struggle for the liberation of Tibet. Archbishop Desmond Tutu (1931-2021) was a South African Anglican bishop and social rights activist who played a pivotal role in the fight against apartheid. He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1984 for his efforts in resolving and ending apartheid. Together, in The Book of Joy, they share their profound insights on finding lasting happiness in a changing world.
