Jane Eyre

Charlotte Brontë (1816-1855) was an English novelist and poet, best known for her classic novel Jane Eyre. Born in Thornton, West Yorkshire, Brontë was the third of six children in a literary family. She and her siblings, including her sisters Emily and Anne, who also became famous writers, were raised in the isolated village of Haworth, where they created intricate imaginary worlds that fueled their creative talents. Brontë’s Jane Eyre, published in 1847 under the pen name Currer Bell, is celebrated for its innovative narrative style, complex characters, and exploration of themes such as social class, gender, and morality. The novel’s success established Brontë as a major literary figure of the Victorian era. Her other notable works include Shirley and Villette.
