About Terry Pratchett

Terry Pratchett (1948-2015) was a renowned British author best known for his satirical and humorous fantasy series, the Discworld novels. Pratchett’s unique blend of wit, imagination, and keen social commentary has earned him a place among the most beloved and influential writers in modern literature. His novel Guards! Guards!, published in 1989, is the eighth book in the Discworld series and introduces the City Watch, a group of misfit guards in the sprawling city of Ankh-Morpork. Pratchett’s prolific career includes over 40 Discworld novels, as well as numerous other works of fiction and non-fiction. His contributions to the fantasy genre and his ability to address complex themes with humor and insight have left an indelible mark on readers and writers alike. In recognition of his literary achievements, Pratchett was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in 2009.
