Through the eyes of Sayuri, a young girl sold to a geisha house, we witness her transformation into one of Japan’s most celebrated geishas. The novel beautifully captures the delicate balance of art, tradition, and survival. I found myself completely immersed in Sayuri’s world, feeling her struggles and triumphs as if they were my own.
