Sir Terry Pratchett (1948-2015) was a prolific British author best known for his satirical and humorous fantasy series, Discworld. Over the course of his career, Pratchett wrote more than 40 novels set in the Discworld universe, captivating readers with his wit, imagination, and keen observations on society. His works have sold over 85 million copies worldwide and have been translated into numerous languages. Pratchett’s unique blend of humor and fantasy earned him numerous accolades, including the Carnegie Medal for his novel The Amazing Maurice and His Educated Rodents. In 2009, he was knighted for his services to literature. Beyond his literary achievements, Pratchett was an outspoken advocate for Alzheimer’s research, having been diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s disease in 2007. His contributions to literature and his advocacy work continue to resonate with fans and scholars alike.
