About Mary Shelley

Mary Shelley (1797-1851) was an English novelist, best known for her groundbreaking work, Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus. Born Mary Wollstonecraft Godwin, she was the daughter of the political philosopher William Godwin and the renowned feminist Mary Wollstonecraft. Shelley’s literary career began early, and she wrote Frankenstein at the age of 18, a novel that has since become a cornerstone of Gothic literature and a seminal work in the science fiction genre.
